The Office of the Director General of Police issued an order on Friday stating that police officials will not be granted leave from November 18 to November 30 in view of law and order arrangements and upcoming events.
“In view of major law & order arrangements and events, no leave shall be granted from November 18-30, 2022,” reads the order signed by Superintendent of Police (HQ) Shekhar Prabhudessai.
The order comes ahead of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) scheduled on November 20 while several policemen are deployed along with tourist-belt in the wake of a huge influx of visitors to the coastal State.
Police sources told The Goan that leave only genuine or unavoidable cases will be allowed by the department upon verification.
"IFFI has been reverted to physical mode after two years of hybrid format. We are expect huge influx of film lovers besides film celebrities from across the world for which we need deployment of personnel at all venues," an officer said.
Further, police personnel are specially being requisitioned from all units for law and order duties. Central forces are also expected to assist the present deployment.
