Cortalim Zilla Panchayat member Merciana Vas launched the asphalting of internal roads at Falvado in Velsao on Saturday, providing much-needed relief to the locals.
The project was initiated in the presence of Velsao Sarpanch Diana Gouveia, panchayat members Fransisca Baretto, social worker Roquezinho D’Souza, and other dignitaries.
Speaking to the media, ZP Merciana Vas stated that the project was funded under ZP resources.
"The roads in this area have been in poor condition for a long time, and the heavy rains in recent months caused further damage, inconveniencing the residents. This project aims to address those issues," she said.
Vas revealed that this initiative is one among many development projects planned for Velsao. "I have proposed and secured sanctions for 12 projects this year, doubling the six projects undertaken last year. Although funds are fully utilised for this year, I am exploring other avenues to complete two pending proposals. I remain committed to working for the people who elected me, irrespective of what critics may say," she added.
Velsao Sarpanch Diana Gouveia and Roquezinho D’Souza expressed gratitude to Vas for her efforts in addressing the needs of the village.
