Jamaat-e-Islami Hind appeals for calm

PANAJI: Goa’s Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) has expressed concern over recent incidents causing social unrest in the State. In a statement, JIH urged Goans of all religious and cultural backgrounds to remain vigilant and avoid allowing individuals to create divisions. The organisation condemned any acts that hurt religious sentiments and called for swift action by law enforcement to address such incidents. JIH emphasised the importance of addressing hate speech through peaceful and democratic means, urging the government to take strict legal action to restore public trust. The group also appealed to Goans to work towards maintaining peace and harmony in the State. The statement was issued by JIH Goa State President, Asif Hussain.

CANACONA: A 59-year-old man from Poinguinim committed suicide on a tree in the Poinguinim forests on Monday evening.According to sources, Mukund Pagi of Poinguinim, who was living with his only son after the demise of his wife a few years ago, was known to be trouble-free man and dedicated between his work and the house.
