One of the accused in the activist Rama Kankonkar attempted murder case, Zenito Cardozo, has filed a bail application before the Principal District and Sessions Court, North Goa.
Cardozo’s counsel, Adv Michael Nazareth, confirmed that the matter is expected to come up for hearing on October 8.
Sources said that Cardozo has relied on certain facts including the police’s official statement to the media that Kankonkar has so far not named any mastermind or politician for the attack.
The victim, in his statement to the police, identified only one person, Minguel, while the others remain unidentified; however, Kankonkar has stated that he would be able to identify them if they were produced before him for a test identification parade. Cardozo’s judicial custody will end on October 10.
