The Crime Branch (CB) sleuths raided an illegal betting den operating from an apartment in Margao and arrested a Karnataka native for the offence.
The CB officials informed that the 28-year-old accused Zeyavulla Hamsabhavi was caught red-handed while accepting online bets from the gambling agents and the public from his native village, in the raid conducted late Thursday night.
The raiding officials also seized the illegal betting articles and Rs 4000 cash. He was subsequently released on bail.
Body recovered from Mandovi
The Panaji police have registered an unnatural death of a man, who died by suicide by jumping off the Atal Setu bridge on Friday. The deceased Ranjit Keni’s body was fished out by the search team comprising of the coastal police and the fire personnel.
