Miscreants burgled a house at Khareband-Margao on Sunday night when the residents went out to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi.
Gold valued at around Rs three lakh and cash of Rs 1.80 lakh have been decamped by the burglars.
The miscreants are believed to have effected entry into the house by breaking the latch of the main door. Once inside, they ransacked for the cupboards and other items before they laid their hands on the cash of Rs 1.80 lakh and the gold ornaments.
The incident came to light on Monday morning when an inmate of the house returned back only to find the latch of the house broken.
His worst fears came true when he found the cupboards ransacked and the gold ornaments and cash missing from the house.
A complaint has been lodged at the Margao police station. Till Monday noon, the police sniffer dog and fingerprint experts did not report at the house. Further investigations are on.
