K'taka native held for theft in guesthouse

A 22-year-old Karnataka native was arrested for committing theft in a guesthouse in Anjuna, police informed.
The accused Amaresh Oujappa Rathod was nabbed for stealing goods worth Rs 1 lakh, including an iPhone 12, cash and some ATM cards.
According to complainant, an unknown person effected entry into her room in a guest house in Anjuna and committed theft of one iPhone 12, one wallet containing cash of Rs 2,000, two ATM cards and another wallet containing Samsung earpods, earphones belonging to the complainant and Aadhar card of the complainant and her friend, all worth Rs 1 lakh.
A police team led by Anjuna PI Prashal Dessai, PSI Ashish Porob and Police Constable Mahendra Mandrekar took swift action and arrested the accused within six hours of registration of offence.
The stolen property was also recovered.
The case is under investigation under the overall supervision of Mapusa SDPO Jivba Dalvi.
