Labour Commissioner calls for report

Labour Commissioner Raju Gawas has sought reports on the incident from the labour inspectors posted at Margao. Given that the deceased labourer and others were putting up in makeshift accommodation along the boundary, the labour inspectors have been told to file a detailed report on the death of the worker and the status of those affected by the gas.

“I have taken cognizance of the incident. The labour inspectors will file a report next week,” he added. The Labour Commissioner said he would also write to the Industrial Development Corporation on the question of workers staying inside the factories at the estate.

MARGAO The medico-legal surgeon, who conducted the post-mortem examination of the 22-year old deceased worker at the Cuncolim Industrial Estate, has reserved the opinion on the cause of death. Dr Madhu Gawde said the viscera of the deceased worker has been preserved and will be sent to the forensic laboratory for testing.Meanwhile, a day after the Goa police registered an offence under section 304-A of the IPC in connection with the incident, no arrests have been made.…
