A logistics hub promoted by prominent Goan industrial house Cosme Mathias Menezes Pvt Ltd, is expected to take shape soon with the Goa Investment Promotion and Facilitation Board notifying a proclamation intending to declare some 1.3 lakh square meters of land privately owned by the group in Dharbandora as a 'logistics park'.The CMM group with interests in diverse sectors including healthcare, pharma, trading, food, logistics among others had moved the proposal several months ago through its group company M/s CMM Logistics Private Limited.
For several years, efforts by industry lobbyists to promote Goa as a logistics hub given its port, airport and road communication advantages had made little progress if any and the proposal of the CMM group taking wings is being seen as a positive outcome.
The proposal had got in-principle approval of the investment board back in March this year but the proclamation seeking to declare the CMM group owned 1.3-odd lakh square metres of land in Dharbandora as an 'investment promotion area' was issued only this week.
The proclamation seeks objections to the said proposal from the public in writing with reasons which need to reach the Director of Industries, Trade and Commerce within a month.
Accordingly, the CEO of the IPB will deal with all functions related to assessment and recovery of all taxes, fees and all other dues and State laws relating to local authorities.
All issues related to building, planning and development in the area will also henceforth be dealt with by the Planning, Development and Construction Committee recently appointed with the Chief Secretary as its chairperson.
