MARGAO: A major fire gutted a house at Vasswaddo in Benaulim in the early hours of Sunday. The fire destroyed two rooms and household items worth around Rs 3.5 lakh.
Fire officer Gill D’Souza said the blaze damaged cupboards, roof rafters, gold ornaments, cash, sofas, and beds. Fire personnel managed to bring the fire under control, preventing it from spreading to the rest of the house.
MARGAO: Panic spread among residents of Balli village on Sunday after a crocodile strayed into a densely populated residential area. Before Forest Department officials arrived at the spot, locals managed to catch and tie the crocodile. It was later handed over to the Forest officials. Residents were surprised by the incident and wondered how the crocodile reached the locality, as the nearest water body is located more than half a kilometre away.
