Verna police arrested Cedric Menezes Gama (53) of Verna on charges of firing three rounds from his licensed firearm on Tuesday following a dispute with his younger brother.
According to the complaint filed by Wilfred Menezes Gama of Verna, his elder brother, Cedric, threatened him with dire consequences due to ongoing strained relations between the two. Wilfred claimed that Cedric then allegedly retrieved his licensed weapon and discharged three gunshots in a rash and negligent manner, endangering the lives and safety of the complainant, his family, and others in the vicinity.
Following the incident, Cedric Menezes Gama was taken into custody and arrested under Section 351(2) and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Section 25(9) of the Arms Act. The court has since granted him bail.
PSI Rajdatt Arsekar of Verna Police Station is investigating the case under the supervision of PI Anand Shirodkar and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
