Gearing up for the e-auction of the iron ore dumps next month, the Directorate of Mines and Geology (DMG) has made it mandatory for the successful bidder to submit a proper plan on dump handling and waste material disposal plan within 180 days of winning the bid.
In a corrigendum issued to the tender notice, the department has said that the successful bidder has to submit a bank guarantee equivalent to the estimated cost of handling the waste, as specified in the plan, and the same would be fortified, if the waste is not handled scientifically.
“The Successful Bidder should prepare and submit to the DMG within a period of 180 days from the date he was declared a Successful Bidder or within such extended period as may be permitted by the DMG, a proper plan of handling dump, which should include the manner in which the dump will be processed and transported and should also include details of disposal of waste material generated in the process,” Director Narayan Gad said.
The e-auction of iron ore dumps, lying at various locations across State, will commence from January 22, 2025. The dumps lying even on forest land and eco-sensitive areas would be e-auctioned in the first phase. The last date for submission of online bids is January 9.
The bidder has to prepare a waste material disposal plan as per MMDR Act and Rules made therein, MOEFCC notifications & Guidelines of Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE) etc.
“Such waste disposal plan should contain estimates/cost of such waste disposal. The department will assess/examine the waste disposal plan and the estimates/cost of handling the waste material, and if found to be in the order the department will approve the same,” Gad said.
