The Comunidade of Margao has lodged a formal complaint with the South Goa District Collector and other authorities against what it claims is an illegal large-scale RCC construction on its land behind the kiosk near Dambab Circle, Fatorda.
Communidade Attorney Celestino Noronha has urged authorities to take immediate action to halt the ongoing construction and initiate proceedings to demolish the unauthorised structure, ensuring the restoration of the land to its original condition.
The comunidade asserts ownership of the property known as "Chinche Conno", situated adjacent to Dambab Circle, Fatorda, including a water body running parallel to the public road and adjacent paddy fields. Noronha said the construction, noticed during a routine inspection on January 24 was being carried out without permission or notification to either the comunidade or any licensing authority. He warned that the project threatens the area’s ecological balance.
Noronha has also called for action against those responsible for the illegal construction, including filing an FIR.
