In a daring daylight robbery, a 45-year-old woman in Parra was relieved of her gold mangalsutra worth approximately Rs 2 lakh by two unidentified, masked men riding a motorcycle. The incident occurred near the Parra junction on Friday afternoon.
According to police, the victim was walking along the roadside when the two men, wearing helmets and face coverings, approached her on a black two-wheeler.
In a swift move, the pillion rider allegedly grabbed her gold mangalsutra and the duo sped away in the direction of the Parra petrol pump.
The woman, visibly shaken by the incident, immediately alerted nearby residents and reported the matter to the police.
A case has since been registered at the Mapusa Police Station and an investigation is underway.
Police sources said that teams have been deployed to scan CCTV footage from the surrounding areas, including at the petrol pump and along the nearby roads, in an effort to trace the culprits and identify the vehicle used in the crime.
