Minor girl missing from Mapusa rescued from Mumbai, 1 held

A 14-year-old minor girl living in a government hostel who was reported missing from Mapusa on Sunday has been found in Mumbai and youth from Madhya Pradesh has been arrested on charges of abducting the girl.

The hostel warden had filed a missing complaint with the Mapusa police stating that the girl had gone to Mapusa market for shopping but did not return.

The police began investigations and found out that the girl had gone along with a youth to Mumbai. Mapusa police then contacted their counterparts in Mumbai and the youth and the girl were found in the jurisdiction of the Nabada police station.

The Mapusa police, with the help of Nabada police, rescued the girl and arrested the youth, Akshay Manohar Tayde (21) of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, under Section 363 IPC and Sec 8 of Goa Children’s Act. 

Both have been brought back to Goa. The accused has been remanded to one day in police custody.

Investigation is in progress under the supervision of PI Shitakant Nayak, SDPO Jivba Dalvi and SP North Nidhin Valsan, IPS.
