MARGAO
The mother of a hit-and-run road accident victim on Friday knocked on the doors of the Superintendent of Police, South Goa over the slow pace of investigations by the Fatorda police to book the culprits in the case.

Deepika Datta Kunkalienkar told the media that it has been eight days since her son was badly injured in a hit-and-run road accident but the police are yet to trace the culprits involved in the accident. She informed that her son Saish Datta Kunkalienkar was hit by a car near the Mungul overbridge, located within the jurisdiction of the Fatorda police station, on May 1 at 9 am while he was proceeding for work.

In her petition to the district police chief, Deepika said, “We belong to a poor family. I am working as a housemaid at various houses. My son Saish was the main breadwinner of our family and this accident has put us in a severe crisis, emotional as well as financial.”

Saying that eight days have passed since the accident had taken place, the mother said the police had not yet traced the accused despite being provided with the details of the car.

“When we approached the Fatorda police, they said that the investigations are underway. However, the culprits involved in the accident are still at large. The police say that no one has come forward to assist in the investigations,” she said while demanding that the police bring the culprits to book.
