After the Margao Municipal Council came across a number of establishments operating in the city without the mandatory trade licence, the civic body is in the process of verifying the number of such establishments contained in the status report filed before the High Court.
For, in its order dated November 19, 2024, the High Court had issued further directions to the Margao Municipal Council to take action against the 64 commercial establishments operating without a trade licence within a period of four weeks from the date of the order. In fact, the High Court had further directed the Municipal to inspect and check sewage discharge throughout its jurisdiction, and consequently take appropriate steps/measures/action within a period of 16 weeks from the date of the order and file an Affidavit in Compliance within two weeks thereafter.
Sources in the MMC informed that the Municipal taxation section has been told to verify the establishments on the question whether they are operating sans the mandatory trade licence.
