CANACONA
One nomination was rejected, while three candidates for the Khola seat and six candidates for the Poinguinim seat were accepted on Wednesday for the ZP polls to both constituencies in Canacona taluka.
The nomination of Poinguinim independent candidate Prakash Warik was rejected on technical grounds after it was found not to have met one basic condition for independent candidates.
According to sources in the returning office, Warik was given enough time on Tuesday itself after he submitted his nomination papers short of one condition to meet the mandatory requirement, but he had failed to comply with the same.
For the Khola ZP seat, the candidates in the fray are Sumitra Pagi (Congress), Tejal Pagi (BJP) and Adv. Samiksha Kholkar (AAP), while for the Poinguinim ZP seat, the candidates in the fray are Prashant Naik(GFP), Vipin Prabhugaonkar (Ind), Diksha Pagi (Ind), Shailesh Pagi (Ind), Daya (Umesh) Gaonkar (Ind), and Rajesh Gaonkar (AAP).
