Non-possession of trucks despite payment comes in for flak at MMC meet

MARGAO
Margao City Fathers on Friday took the administration to task over the purchase of the three trucks costing Rs 40 lakh by not taking possession of the vehicles, even as the civic body has made the payments way back in 2019.

An agitated former Chairperson Ganashyam Shirodkar called for recovering the amount from the concerned officials for causing loss to the civic body. He threatened to lodge an FIR and take the matter to its logical conclusion if the officials do not make the loss suffered by the civic body.

Ganashyam pointed out that the three trucks were purchased by the civic body way back in 2019 before the BS6 complaint engine regulations came into force in April 2020. He pointed out that the three vehicles cannot be registered now due to sheer negligence of the civic officials demanding that the loss is recovered from the officials. The issue saw the councillors demanding that the Chairperson call for a special meeting to discuss the issue threadbare and initiate action.
