Twenty persons from Chimbel were put under preventive arrest by the Old Goa police for calling out a meeting of a mosque without intimation of the managing committee.
According to police sources, the meeting was reportedly called to throw out the managing committee. On learning of this proposed meeting, the managing committee members contacted the Old Goa police, who in turn, reported the matter to the Collector and 20 persons were placed under preventive arrests.
Later, all 20 persons were produced before the deputy Collector and released on bonds of Rs 1 lakh each.
