MARGAO
Curtains came down on the government-sponsored Viksit Bharat Viksit Goa rally at the Margao KTC bus stand on Tuesday, but the bus stand will continue to operate from the makeshift stand opposite the Ravindra Bhavan at least till February 8.
For, though the Viksit rally presided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded on Tuesday evening, the massive pandal erected at the Margao KTC bus stand needs to be dismantled before the bus operations return to the original place.
In fact, Wednesday saw labourers roped in by the contractor busy engaged in dismantling the pandal from the KTC bus stand. While the roof covering has been dismantled and lifted away, the workers were on the job to remove the structure.
Sources said the massive pandal will be removed by Thursday to pave for the return of the bus operations to the KTC bus stand.
The KTC bus stand was temporarily relocated to the SAG ground, opposite the Ravindra bhavan, Margao from February 1 in line with the notification issued by the South Goa district Collector, Asvin Chandru.
Commuters, however, had to contend with dust pollution at the makeshift bus stand, where the ground was prepared by fresh land filing ahead of the shifting. Complaints were galore from commuters as well local motorists over the traffic snarls at the swimming pool junction near the makeshift bus stand since the time the bus stand was shifted to the notified place.
