Oppn pushes for more time to ask questions; BAC finalises agenda

PANAJI

Leader of the Opposition Yuri Alemao lobbied for functional concessions like more time to ask questions and copies of answers provided to them in advance as the Business Advisory Committee met on Tuesday and finalised the agenda and business to be taken in the 18-day monsoon session of the legislative assembly slated to commence from July 15.

The BAC chaired by Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar, meanwhile, finalised the business for the 18 days of the session.

Alemao and other Opposition members of the BAC put forth their demands such as allowance of adequate time to raise questions.

The Opposition members have also asked the speaker to ensure that the legislature secretariat arrange to supply them copies of answers to their questions at least 48 hours in advance.

Tawadkar, meanwhile, claimed that he has always endeavoured to give all the parties enough time.

He said, delay in providing the answers to their questions occurs primarily when questions encompass issues related to multiple departments.
