Sattari taluka received a good response for the 'Tika Utsav' organised at the panchayat level which began on Sunday.
More than 550 took part in the vaccination drive at Nagargaon and Thane panchayats of Sattari taluka.
95-year-old Champavati Naik, who was administered the Covid vaccine, was the attraction at the drive.
All panchayats will be covered under the Tika Utsav programme in another eight days. The health minister has appealed to the people of Sattari taluka to cooperate in the programme.
Speaking to reporters the health minister said that now the cases are gradually increasing in the state and everyone should follow the SOPs.
He said the Tika Utsav is a good step by Prime Minister Narendra Modi which is also implemented in Goa under the guidance of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
He also congratulated Champavati Naik for setting a good example to create awareness among the people.
When contacted, Champavati Naik said that we have to live our lives in a healthy condition and the government has taken this step to vaccinate all, which is a very good initiative, and will show good results in due course.
Sarpanch Prajita Gavas, Deputy Sarpanch Suryakant Gaonkar, all panch members Nilesh Parwar, Umesh Sawant, Sarita Gaonkar, Lata Gaonkar along with the CHC health officer Dr Sham Kankonkar, official Akib Sheikh and coordinator Vinod Shinde were present.
At Nagargaon, Sarpanch Prashant Marathe along with the panch members Parag Khadilkar, Laxman Gawas, Gopiki Gaonkar, Rama Karvat were present.
