Goa police have reported a fall in the number of Police Control Room (PCR) calls this year, describing it as a sign of improved law and order in the State.
Official figures shared by PRO Rahul Gupta reveal that between January and August 2025, calls to the 112 Emergency Response Support System dropped by 8.82 per cent compared with the same period last year.
The sharpest drop was recorded in complaints linked to crime against women, which fell by 31.79 per cent -- from 541 cases in 2024 to 369 in 2025.
Cases of snatching also went down by 28.57 per cent, while theft reduced by 20.98 per cent. The figures also indicate a decline in bullfighting-related complaints at 41.67 per cent.
Hit and run incidents also dropped by 16.61 per cent, calls related to fights and assault decreased by 8.47 per cent, accident-related calls by 7.74 per cent, traffic-related calls by 7.24 per cent, and noise pollution complaints by 4.8 per cent.
“The decline across these categories is a result of proactive policing measures undertaken by the Goa Police.
"These include systematic tenant and servant verification, preventive actions against known anti-social elements, enhanced police presence including introduction of new PCR vehicles in sensitive areas, and targeted action against known criminals. These measures have not only reduced opportunities for crime but also built confidence among the public,” the PRO said.
