If by fluke the BJP government comes to power then be ready to buy a LPG at Rs 2000 per cylinder and petrol at Rs 200 per litre and therefor people have to vote wisely so that the secular/anti-incumbency vote does not split, said Kiran Kandolkar, State President of TMC.
Kandolkar, on Sunday, also said that it was in the hands of the people to teach the defectors a befitting lesson and assured that TMC MLAs will never defect from the party.
“The anti-incumbency against BJP has been there for almost two years but people did not have an option. Even at the ZP election the voting percentage was low because people were fed up with the incumbent government,” Kandolkar said.
“If by mistake a BJP government comes to power then be ready to buy a gas cylinder at Rs 2000 and petrol at Rs 200 per litre. So people have to think and vote so that they don’t split the secular or the anti-incumbency vote,” he added.
The State TMC President was speaking to journalists at the sidelines of a function to induct a large number of youth into the TMC in Aldona.
Kandokar said people were disillusioned with the Congress as the party leadership has failed to show the inclination to fight the BJP or Modi at the Centre.
“There is only one leader who can give a fight to the BJP and it is Mamata Didi and her party TMC. Gandhi family is not interested to fight Modi. Only a leader who can lead Goa and the country and who can play serious politics should be voted to power,” he said.
He further said that TMC was into full-fledged and serious politics in the State and after assembly elections the party will focus on panchayat and the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
According to Kandolkar, its elected MLAs will never leave the party because of TMC’s strong idealogy but put the onus on fighting the defection scourge on the voters.
“It’s for voters to teach the defectors a lesson. If people do not re-elect the MLAs who have defected then that will act as the right anti-dote for defection,” he said.
