Pet dog bites visitor’s mother; owner booked

Candolim Police have registered a case against a 52-year-old woman after her pet dog allegedly bit a visitor’s mother at Bamon Vaddo on Saturday morning.

The FIR is based on a complaint filed by Girish Dasanastti (23), currently residing in Candolim and originally from Belgaum, Karnataka.

According to the complaint, the incident occurred the same day around 8.30 am. Girish alleged that the accused, Eshita Katyal, Dog Squad Manager at Drishti Lifesaving, had negligently allowed her pet dog to roam freely.

The dog allegedly ran toward the complainant’s mother and bit her on the calf, resulting in injuries and endangering her safety.

Police have booked the accused under Sections 125(a) (rash or negligent act) and 291 (negligent conduct with respect to animals) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Further investigation is underway.
