Expressing solidarity with the Goan family affected by the Saturday’s events in Assagao, Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo criticized the Anjuna Police for their failure to act appropriately.
On Sunday, Lobo called on the police to immediately register two separate cases for kidnapping and the illegal demolition of the house.
“A father and his son were pushed into a car, moved from place to place for several hours, and then dumped at one location, yet the police did not register a case? This is unacceptable and a clear failure on the part of the police. The Chief Minister must take cognizance of this,” Lobo asserted.
She emphasized that even if someone has legally purchased a property, they cannot simply bring in a JCB and demolish a house. Legal notices must be served to the occupants, and if they refuse to vacate, legal procedures should be followed to evict them.
“No Sharma or Verma can come and demolish our people’s houses just like that. This cannot be tolerated in a small state like Goa, especially in my Siolim constituency,” she stated.
The Siolim MLA urged the police to file separate cases for the kidnapping and the illegal demolition of the house to ensure justice is served.
