OLD GOA
Politicos came out in support of the strong statements of Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrao when he bluntly told authorities concerned not to encourage illegalities in heritage sites at Old Goa and to preserve the monuments.
Speaking to reporters, Waste Management Minister Michael Lobo said he supports the statement of the Archbishop and said Old Goa should be preserved for the future generations.
“Action has come after I was one of the first ministers to raise the issue,” said Lobo and informed that the demolition process could be expedited.
Benaulim MLA Churchhill Alemao also extended his support to the statement of the Archbishop and said that the structure needs to be demolished and all those who have allowed the illegalities to happen be put behind bars.
Stating that the demand of the people is genuine that the structure should be demolished, Goa Forward supremo Vijai Sardesai said he extends his support to the hunger strike.
