MAPUSA
The campaign of Congress candidate of Mapusa, Sudhir Kandolkar got a shot in the arm after some prominent citizens decided to extend their support to him in the assembly election to be held on Monday.
“We have been working on the individual level to bring a change in Mapusa for quite some time now. Congress candidate Sudhir Kandolkar is easily accessible, simple and reaches out to everyone. We have therefore decided to back him in this election,” said Paresh Rairka, a businessman and resident of Mapusa.
He said for the last so many years babush (later Francis D’Souza) and his son have been presiding over the affairs of Mapusa but the city has failed to see any development.
According to Dr Prithvi Amonkar, the CM and Deputy CM were from Mapusa in the past, yet the city failed to see development as was expected.
“The North Goa District Hospital is overburdened. We also require a fulfleged cardiac unit in the district hospital,” Dr Amonkar said and added the need to tackle the stray dog menace in the town.
A resident of Mapusa, Prashant Walke informed that present dispensation was not in a position to improve Mapusa. He said Mapusa should be the hub for transport activity and therefore a modern bus-stand with all facilities should be available in Mapusa.
