The Environmental Public Hearing for Sirigao-Mayem Mineral Block II, belonging to M/s Salgaocar Shipping, will be held on June 19 at Bicholim.
The public hearing of the block was initially scheduled for March 20 but was postponed following a request from the villagers.
Additional District Collector, North Goa had written to the Goa State Pollution Control Board -- the nodal agency for conducting the hearing -- stating that it would be extremely difficult to conduct the hearing from a law and order point of view on March 20 and directed it to postpone the same.
The company has proposed the production of 1.00 million tonnes of fresh ore annually from the block, which spans an area of 171.2472ha. The hearing will be held at Narayan Zantye Multipurpose Sports Complex, Sarvan-Bicholim.
