Hearing of objections lodged by the people of Cuncolim and Balli for the land acquisition of 3,82,786 square metres of land for the proposed Cuncolim bypass will take place on October 1 and 3.
Several people have filed their objections to the land acquisition notification by the Ministry for Road Transport and Highways seeking to acquire land admeasuring 3,82,786 sqm, on the stretch from Usniki Bandh, Cuncolim to Bendordem area in Balli village.
Those who had filed objections went to the PWD office in Panaji for a hearing, but they were told that the hearing would take place in October, informed social activist Ronny Dias. He said the PWD has made two groups of people, who had objected to the land acquisition and have called them on two different dates for the hearing.
Sources in the know informed that the citizens aggrieved by the alignment of the land acquisition proposal have planned a meeting in Cuncolim. After five years, the Centre had finally settled for the Uskini bandh-Bendordem alignment for the Cuncolim road bypass instead of pursuing the alignment proposed by the Cuncolim Municipal Council over a decade ago.
