A couple of Panchayats in Salcete are reported to have written to the PWD, Roads to provide them with technical experts along with the village road map, besides details of proposed road widening area of the PWD in order to identify all illegal structures that exist in the PWD area in order to comply with the High Court directions.
Referring to the High Court directions dated March 6, 2025, a Panchayat body wrote to the PWD, Roads reminding that the Court had issued directions to all the Panchayats to initiate action on illegal construction along the roadside Highway/Major roads in Panchayat area.
“Hence, the panchayat has decided to carry out the site inspection to identify all such illegal constructions, so as to identify illegal constructions exist in PWD road widening area, encroachment done in PWD area along the Highway/MDR road side in the village panchayat jurisdiction”, a letter from the Panchayat stated.
