"Whatever government says they never deliver. Last year too, they promised but we got payment in parts and that too after a long gap. This time, my brother has applied but they say that the loss we estimate cannot be given and it would be only 70 per cent."

act swiftly

"I feel govt need to act in swift manner. It is livelihood for several Farmers and crop damage like this make them and their dependents suffer. There should not be deadlines but they need to clear applications as and when it comes."

GOVT'S FESTIVE PROMISE: WILL IT DELIVER?

During the recent monsoon session of the Goa legislative assembly, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, promised to compensate all farmers who had suffered damage to their freshly cultivated kharif crop due to the July deluge. Not only did Sawant make the promise to compensate the farmers but pledged to do it before 'Ganesh Chaturthi'.This pledge to pay compensation to eligible farmers has left the agriculture department which over the last month has been stacked with applications…
