Rane says apology to Kamat genuine

MARGAO
Declining to explain the harassment he had meted out to Congress-turned-BJP Margao MLA, Digambar Kamat, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Sunday said he did not tender apology to Kamat for optics or just to express regret but has offered genuine apology to the former Chief Minister.

The Health Minister has further underscored the need for Ministers to treat MLAs on par with them, saying power comes and goes as per the destiny and wishes of the party leadership.

“I cannot go to the public on the nature of harassment I had meted out to Kamat during his tenure as Chief Minister of Goa. We both know about the harassment I had spoken and apologized on Saturday. One should have a heart to tender an apology. Kamat is a senior leader and I believe in his leadership. As Chief Minister, Kamat had brought about development in Sattari. I have apologised to Kamat publicly and not the four walls of a building”, he added.

Saying he and his family enjoys excellent relations with Digambar Kamat, Rane recalled that his father Pratapsing Rane had recommended Kamat’s name for the post of Chief Minister in 2007.  “This is the relationship we enjoy and we have to maintain our relationship”, he added.
