Town and Country Planning Minister insinuated that "some Opposition leaders have also taken advantage of the TCP Act's section 17(2) and threatened to reveal their names in the Goa legislative assembly.
Rane was addressing the media on Friday, a day after hundreds of protesters held a demonstration in the capital city demanding that he (Rane) be removed as minister blaming him for large-scale land conversions.
"The names of those who have taken advantage of Section 17(2) will be revealed in the Legislative Assembly. The Legislative Assembly is the right place to reveal the names," he said.
Rane also accused the Opposition of "targeting" him on this issue because he was an important leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Meanwhile, Rane said last week's Bombay High Court judgement which read down Section 17(2) of the Town and Country Planning Act and struck down its rules is a valid provision.
"The High Court has also upheld it. Section 39(A) is also a valid section. The rules under Section 17 (2) will be amended with the advice of legal experts," Rane argued even as he said that the government will decide on challenging the High Court order before the Supreme Court after consulting legal experts.
