The recent resetvations of wards for the upcoming civic polls has changed the political scenario in port town with a lot of outgoing councillors finding their ward reserved for women.
While many of the outgoing coulcilors have been eyeing other wards, former Mormugao Municipal Council(MMC) chairpersons Nandadeep Raut, Saifullah Khan and Kritesh Gaonkar have also been affected with their wards reserved for women.
However sources said that former MMC Chairperson Nandadeep Raut who is extremely close to Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida is seemingly upset with the reservations and has decided to get his wife to contest from his ward.
Raut who enjoys a huge support in the ward no 15 has now decided to get his wife Priya Raut to contest in the ward while he himself will contest in ward no 20 which was earlier represented by yet another Carlos Almeida panel member Vandana Satardekar.
Sources also added that outgoing councillor and Almeida panel member Yatin Kamurkekar may also contest in ward no 22 after his ward has also been reserved for ladies OBC.
While the reservations have hit the political scenario in port town, there could be a tough fight with strong candidates belonging to the same panel fighting against each other.
There could also be multiple corner flights with most outgoing councillors competing against each other in general wards available in Vasco Constituency.
