SANGUEM
Residents of Rivona-Sanguem have expressed frustration over the deplorable condition of the main Tilamol-Rivona road, which are virtually non-existent on account of the numerous potholes
Despite numerous complaints lodged with authorities, the road is yet to be repaired. Adding to their woes, an FIR was filed at Quepem Police Station by Jervis Fernandes against the contractor responsible for underground electricity cabling work in the village, yet even this legal action has failed to prompt any meaningful repairs.
Sources indicate that while a panchanama was conducted by Quepem Police following the FIR, this has offered no relief to the affected villagers.
The dire state of the road has led to widespread local exasperation.
Adv Anand Gaonkar, a daily commuter between Rivona and Sanvordem, sarcastically described the road as a "ready-made track for off-roading" and extended an invitation to authorities to experience the challenging terrain first-hand.
Adv Gaonkar further highlighted the particular danger to two-wheeler riders, who often fail to spot water-filled potholes and are forced to navigate erratically to avoid the heavily damaged portion of the road.
