Ahead of the September 9 Cuncolim Municipal Council meeting, flurry of political activity has been witnessed in the ruling and opposition camps.
Questions are indeed doing the rounds in local Cuncolim circles how the Congress and BJP-backed councillors will go about taking a decision on the application seeking permission for the construction of a massive shed and compound wall outside the Cuncolim Industrial estate.
Sources informed that Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, who represents Cuncolim constituency in the Legislative Assembly, is believed to have gone into a huddle with the Congress-backed Cuncolim Municipal Councillors to discuss the issue. With Yuri coming out openly against the fish meal plant, the ruling Councillors are expected to object to the construction file on September 9.
