MARGAO
Shiv Premis from Rumdamol Housing Board on Saturday maintained that they will go by the decision of the district authorities regarding the installation of Sambhaji Maharaj statue near the Maruti Temple, Rumdamol.

The Shiv Premis led by Rumdamol Panchayat member, Vinayak Volvoikar, reasoned that the statue does not obstruct the palki procession of the adjoining Maruti temple as claimed by the temple trust.

Addressing the media at the site of the Sambhaji Maharaj statue, Volvoikar said adequate space is available near the statue for the movement of the palki procession. “We fail to understand why the Maruti temple trust is lodging complaints over the statue. They claim the statue comes in the way of the palki procession, but the ground reality is different,” he said.

Without taking names, Volvoikar said the whole problem has been raked by the temple trust because of "one person". “It is evident that this one person is creating the problem because of hurt ego since he was not taken in the loop,” he said.

To a question, Volvoikar said the Shiv Premis will go by the decision arrived at by the district authorities on the complaint lodged by the Maruti temple trust against the installation of the statue at the site.
