Siolim accident victim succumbs to injuries

A 43-year-old man from Ghateshwarnagar in Khorlim-Mapusa, who was seriously injured in a road mishap at Bamanwada-Siolim, died on Friday while undergoing treatment at the GMC hospital in Bambolim.

The mishap had taken place near a cross at Bamanwada on February 20 at around 6.40 pm when a car collided with an oncoming Honda Activa scooter and a TVS Jupiter scooter. The TVS Jupiter scooter rider Pramod Subhash Nagvekar as well as a couple on the Activa scooter, Johnny D'Souza (61) and Eliza D'Souza (52) from Bamanwada, were injured in the mishap.

The injured were admitted to Mapusa District Hospital, from where Nagvekar was shifted to the GMC hospital. The couple were sent home after treatment. Nagvekar had been undergoing treatment at the GMC hospital for over a month and breathed his last on Friday.

Anjuna police have registered a case against the car driver, Premanand Chandrakant Naik, of Deulwada-Arambol, and are investigating the case.

Meanwhile, the deceased is survived by his father, mother, and two brothers and the body will be cremated at the Khorlim crematorium on Saturday morning.
