In a shocking incident, a six-year old girl died at Macazana Village after she was assaulted by his father with a wooden stick.
Maina Curtorim police has registered a case of murder against the 28-year-old father of the deceased girl. The father Salim Dambal has gone into hiding. The police have launched a manhunt to nab the accused.
Police sources, however, said the exact cause of death of the girl will be known during the post mortem examination scheduled at South Goa District hospital on Wednesday.
The incident occurred on Monday after the father struck the girl with a wooden stick over a petty quarrel in an inebriated state.
She was rushed to the Curtorim primary health centre where she was declared brought dead.
Maina Curtorim police station Incharge PI Arun Desai informed that the family from Gadag Karnataka had come to Goa couple of days back. After spending two days in the Margao Municipal garden, Salim along with wife and the child moved to Macazana for a daily wage construction work.
The police are investigating.
