Amid possible in-principle clearance given to the organisers of the Sunburn Electronic Dance Music (EDM) festival, the annual extravagance is expected to be shifted to a new venue at Mopa, in close vicinity of the Manohar International Airport.
The event is also extended to four days, from December 27-31.
Sources said that Harinder Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of Percept Live, met Chief Secretary Puneet Goel and government officials of departments connected with the event.
“The organisers have recommended shifting the venue from Vagator to Mopa this year given its vast area to accommodate revellers coming from across the world during the four days of the shows. The proposal is likely to get a nod from the Committee,” said a senior official.
With the proposal almost through, Sunburn’s official social media handle has already begun marketing the festival under the title ‘Welcome To The Enchanted Forest.’ The early bird tickets however do not mention the venue.
Last month, Pernem legislator Pravin Arlekar objected to any move to host the event at Mopa while Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte claimed there was no such request from organisers.
Percept Live recently indicated options to relocate the party venue within Goa, which if approved will be its third venue after Candolim and Vagator.
