A 64-year-old man from Tamil Nadu was found dead in the toilet at the Vasco railway station early Wednesday morning.
The deceased, identified as Nagamalai Muniyan, of Tiruvarangam-Viluppuram, was found dead by railway authorities around 7.20 am.
According to Vasco Railway Police, the station master of Vasco Railway Station reported the matter and a team was dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, police found the lifeless body inside the toilet. Preliminary inquiries with the family of the deceased revealed that Muniyan, a fish vendor by profession, had been suffering from an illness. He had gone to the toilet when he suddenly collapsed and passed away.
The deceased was identified by his wife, who confirmed that he had been struggling with health issues for some time. Police do not suspect any foul play in the incident, and it is believed that the man died of natural causes related to his existing medical condition.
The body was sent to the South District Government Hospital (SDGH) in Margao, where it will be preserved for medico-legal formalities.
Railway police immediately registered an Unnatural Death (UD) case under Section 194 of BNS and investigation is being carried out by Police Inspector Amarnath Passi of Vasco Railway Station under the guidance of Mormugao DySP Salim Shaikh.
