Revolutionary Goans hit out at the BJP-led government for leaving thousands of women without food on day 1 of the National Women’s Parliament held at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium at Taleigao on Monday.
In a press release, RG states that this event has drawn unwanted attention over the government’s failure to provide food to those who attended the daylong event. Balwadi teachers and women from North and South Goa who are part of various self-help groups were called for this event. This full-day event was attended by over 10,000 women who were provided with Kadamba transportation facility to come to the venue.
The Revolutionary Goans President, Viresh Borkar criticized the government for leaving women without food for an entire day.
“Every time women are called for political meetings, rallies and events. This government does not give them an opportunity to earn on their own and become independent. Now, this was the height as they were left hungry for an entire day with no availability of food in the vicinity as the event was held in a far-flung area. This government does not respect women and their needs. If the government cannot look after women and their needs then why are they calling them for such events. There were few specially-abled women also who were part of this event and left stranded for food,” said Viresh.
