The Crime Branch has made yet another arrest of a person from Uttar Pradesh for allegedly running an escort website containing sexually explicit pictures and videos.
This is a third arrest made in the ongoing crackdown against the illicit operations of escort websites. Earlier this week, two- one from Andhra Pradesh and another from Haryana were arrested.
According to police, Yogesh Kumar (41) from Rakesh Marg, Ghaziabad, UP, is the creator of the website deepikaverma.com. He was apprehended by a team with support from the Ghaziabad Police. During a search at his residence, a CPU containing website data was seized.
Yogesh was taken into custody and brought to Goa for further investigation.
He is arrested under Sections 67 of the IT Act, Section 6 of the Indecent Representation of Women Act, and Sections 4 and 5 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.
As part of a crackdown jointly by CB and Cyber Cell, 78 websites involved in similar activities have been blocked.
