Forest Minister Vishwajit Rane on Saturday said that the Prime Minister’s Office is personally monitoring the situation of forest fire in Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary.
“I received an intimation from the Prime Minister’s Office that the Defense Ministry would provide full support and the office of the Prime Minister will monitor the situation closely. The entire State of Goa is extremely grateful for the intervention of the Prime Minister in protecting our forests and providing us with full defense support with helicopters for dousing the wildfires,” Rane said as he took to social media to inform about the development.
As of 4 pm Saturday, a total of nine active fires were reported in various places including Mhadei wildlife sanctuary while 14 were doused by over 530 persons on the fire rescue mission.
“As Goa’s Minister of Forests, I express my gratitude to the Prime Minister. We will keep the Prime Minister’s office updated on a daily basis on the state of fires,” he added.
