The process of holding identification parade in connection with the Swapnil Walke murder case has begun before Special Judicial Magistrate, Margao on Thursday.
A total of 14 witnesses, who had reportedly seen both Mustafa Sheikh and Evader Rodrigues, making good their escape after the cold blooded murder, will be called for the identification parade, which may go on for the next couple of days.
Thursday saw two witnesses being called for the Identification parade before the Special Judicial Magistrate in the South Goa District and Sessions Court building.
As per the procedure laid down for identification parades, a total of six dummy persons are made to stand in the midst of an accused before the witness is called in to identify the accused.
Unlike the past, the identification parade is to be conducted by sticking to the SOP in place, including maintaining social distancing amongst the accused and dummy called in for the parade.
Since the Crime Branch has cited around 14 witnesses, who must have seen both Mustafa and Evander running away after the murder, sources in the know say it may take some time before the Identification parade exercise is competed.
The Crime branch had tested success in the case earlier this week when the bullet which was fired at deceased Swapnil Walke, was finally recovered by the police from the jewelry shop.
The recovery of the bullet is considered a crucial piece of evidence, sources in the crime branch stated.
