Why are MPDA staff not transferred regularly, asks NGRF

VASCO
Vasco-based NGO Niz Goenkar Revolutionary Fauz (NGRF) on Monday claimed that many officials at the Mormugao Planning and Development Authority (MPDA) had not been transferred for a very long time.

Speaking to reporters, NGRF member Suresh Naik said the trend of retaining officers at the same place for a long time was not right.

"No officer or staff must be allowed to be at one location for so long. While the minimum tenure of the staff without transfer in MPDA is 15 years, some have been here for as long as 30 years without transfer.”

“We had written to the chief secretary in this regard in September, but there has been no action till date. Later, we took up the issue with Deputy Chief Minister and TCP Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar and told him that some staff had been in MPDA since 1989 but he too has not replied to us,” said Naik.

“MPDA Chairman Clafasio Dias is new and he has also not offered us any clarity. One staff is here since 1983 and some are almost close to retirement. We want Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to intervene and order their transfer at least once before they retire," said Naik.
