With the entry of Pravin Arlekar in the BJP to be official on Monday, it is now final that Babu Ajgaonkar will not get BJP ticket from Pernem constituency and there are discussions going on whether MGP will accept Babu Ajgaonkar who has ditched the party earlier to contest from Pernem constituency."At the last moment, the BJP had stolen our winnable candidate. As a tit-for-tat move against the BJP, the MGP should give ticket to Babu Ajgaonkar to see that BJP candidate Pravin Arlekar is defeated," expressed Apa Teli, senior leader of MGP.
Apa Teli said that the Pernem MGP committee has come to consensus that Ajgaonkar should be given a ticket to see that MGP wins and the resolution of the committee has been conveyed to the MGP central committee.
However MGP President Deepak Dhavlikar has categorically said that defector Babu Ajgaonkar has no place in the MGP party.
"At any circumstances we will not give a ticket to Babu Ajgaonkar. Those who have ditched the party will not be allowed in the party. Our party works on some principles and we will work according to these principles", said Deepak Dhavalikar.
Deepak Dhavalikar has earlier expressed that local leader Rajan Korgaonkar's name is in the list of probable candidates of MGP and the party may consider him for party ticket.
However the MGP leader Sudin Dhavalikar has kept his stand soft stating that if any defector who has been expelled from the party has to be taken back in the party, the party executive committee has to pass such a resolution to give him entry.
Ajgaonkar has still maintained that he is with the BJP party and BJP leaders have not conveyed to him that he will not be given a ticket.
"If BJP denies me a ticket then I have to see another option", said Azgaonkar.
The MGP leader from Mandrem Jit Arolkar has said that Babu should retire from politics to avoid further humiliation and support the MGP candidate in Pernem to defeat the BJP candidate in the constituency.
