Ahead of the new fishing season beginning from Friday, Health personnel have already descended at the Cutbona fishing jetty to screen migrant workers before they join the fishing operations.
The Goa police too seemed to have launched a drive to check migrant labourers entering the state ahead of the fishing season. The police informed strict checks on migrant labourers who are entering the state through trains are conducted at Vasco, Collem and Curchorem Railway Stations.
Thorough checking is done by verifying their Identity Cards and also checking and verifying their employers / organizations which they are affiliated with. Luggage carried by the labourers are also checked to ensure that they are not carrying any narcotics drugs, weapons, explosives, locally prepared arms & ammunitions etc.
